Who is Dr. Matemavi
Dr. Praise Matemavi is a transplant surgeon, speaker, author, and educator whose journey from a teenage mother in Zimbabwe to becoming one of the few Black female transplant surgeons in the United States has inspired thousands around the world.
As Surgical Director of the Kidney and Pancreas Transplant Program at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, Dr. Matemavi combines excellence in medicine with a deep commitment to faith, mentorship, and service. Through her writing, speaking, and online community, she encourages others to pursue purpose, overcome adversity, and walk boldly in the calling God has placed on their lives.
