Book Me To Speak

Meet Dr. Praise Matemavi

I am a transplant surgeon, author, speaker, and woman of faith with a passion for helping people live with purpose, courage, and hope.

My journey began in Zimbabwe, where I dreamed of becoming a doctor at the age of four. At fourteen, I immigrated to the United States with my family, carrying little more than a dream and a determination to pursue it. Along the way, life brought unexpected challenges. I became a teenage mother, navigated seasons of hardship and heartbreak, and often found myself in spaces where no one looked like me or shared my background.

Yet through every obstacle, God's grace carried me forward. Today, I serve as a transplant surgeon, specializing in liver, kidney, and pancreas, transplantation. I have the privilege of helping patients receive a second chance at life through the gift of organ donation. I am also honored to be one of the few Black female transplant surgeons in the United States and the first Zimbabwean multivisceral transplant surgeon.

Beyond the operating room, I am passionate about sharing the lessons I have learned through faith, medicine, leadership, motherhood, and perseverance. Through my books, speaking engagements, and online community, I encourage others to believe that their circumstances do not determine their destiny.

Whether I am performing a transplant, writing a devotional, mentoring the next generation, or sharing stories around our virtual village square, my mission remains the same: to point people toward hope, purpose, and the God who makes all things possible.

Welcome to my corner of the village. I'm so glad you're here.
